Social Media Tips for Beginners

Using social media to market a business is not easy most especially if you haven't used it for any reason. It would take some time for you to know the ins and outs and you have to take things seriously. You have to read books and if needed, ask for help.

To make things a bit easier for you, here are some beginner tips that you can ponder on.

• Take things little by little. You might have heard people who became successful in the use of social media to market their businesses. Well, these people had worked so hard and that they had spent a considerable amount of money before they reached the top. If you would like to be like them, you have to start from the bottom and that is by creating your profiles on different social media accounts. Take a look at the different sites and then select those that you are comfortable with or those that have been proven to help.

• Test widgets and buttons. Different sites have their own widgets and buttons and you have to use these in order for you to gain more. However, while using them, you also have to observe which ones help the most and which ones don't work at all. Keep the buttons and widgets that help you a lot and then drop those that don't help you at all.

• Avoid annoying your audience. Many marketers believed that it is just right for them to post coupons or advertisements on their social media accounts right away. However, this is not how it works. Before posing about any coupons or advertisements, you have to provide helpful information first. Who are you and what business or products are you promoting? How can these products help potential customers? Once your audiences are informed, it would then be the right time for you to post coupons, deals or ads.

• Remain humble. Do not consider yourself an expert mainly because you were able to generate a lot of money on your first 3 months. You can only call yourself an expert if you can generate a sustainable income by using social media to promote your business or products. Stay humble all the time. Ask for help and if someone asks for your help, do not hesitate to teach him/her.

Patience is always needed if you are running a social media campaign. Learn how to wait, be wise and always follow these tips.

7 Tips For Getting More Value From LinkedIn

Lately, I've noticed that there seems to be a massive amount of energy leaving Facebook and that more and more people are gravitating towards Google+ and LinkedIn.

For those that are only just finding their legs on LinkedIn, I thought I'd put together a short list of tips that I've learned from others or found myself by trial and error. Some of these will seem obvious and others you might not have had the chance to figure out yourself yet.

Tip 1 - Photo.

Adding a picture of your smiling face may not win you any photography awards but it's not meant to. The whole point is to make you seem more approachable and friendly. Your company logo, or even a professional/airbrushed image of yourself does the opposite. The people who are looking at your profile are humans with lots of hangups about how they look. If you look too perfect, they will avoid you.

Tip  2 - Monthly Editing.

Just because you haven't changed jobs recently, doesn't mean you shouldn't review your online profile. We are never the same person as we were yesterday. You might have expanded your knowledge, your goals, or even your view of yourself. Regular editing will allow the world to see the current version of you.

Also, editing your profile gets added to your connections news feed. You never know who might be watching when you update.

Tip  3 - Recommendations and Endorsements.

LinkedIn is about building influence and networking. A well thought out recommendation for a connection is not only appreciated by it's recipient but goes a long way to building that influence. As with any personally requested written  reference, write with as much energy as you can muster and be vociferous in your recommendation.

If you cannot write a recommendation for a connection that *POPS*, either because you don't know that person well enough or you don't think highly enough of them to do them justice, don't write one. It damages your brand as well as theirs.

When possible, endorse people for their skills. It only takes a second but helps your connections build their influence. You don't need to have used them for the skill they've listed but if you know them well enough to trust that the skill they've added is one they've acquired then go ahead and add weight to their profile.

Again though, if you don't believe them likely to have that skill, don't endorse it. For example, If someone in my industry adds Superannuation to their skills, I'll endorse it because I know what the needs of my industry are. But if they add, Author as a skill, I'll want to have some proof by reading some of their material first, whether it be book, magazine article or blog posts.

Tip 4 - Splitting Groups.

While LinkedIn is a great place for building influence, it is similarly a wonderful place to find more knowledge. Whether from posted blog articles or engaged discussions, the level of educational content that is shared though Linked In is massive. A handy tip that I was given once was, to be mindful of your ego.

It's very easy to find yourself drawn into conversations in groups where you are held in high esteem for your knowledge level. To counteract this, split your group membership evenly between groups where you can learn from others and groups where you can build your influence and public profile.

As someone once said, "If you find yourself in a room where you are the smartest person there, leave". Which brings me to;

Tip  5 - Leave Groups Willingly.

The quality of your life is not decided by the things you add to it but rather the things you exclude. If the groups you're in aren't moderated properly leave. If your groups news feed is filled with random postings that don't seem to fit the group, leave.

You can only be a member of 50 groups at any one time. You may as well make the experience a meaningful one. Groups that are un-moderated tend to attract a high volume of spammers which means that the members who could add value, avoid the group like the plague.

Tip  6 - Add New People.

Groups are one of the few places where you can add new contacts without having been engaged with them previously. But be smart about your approach. If you just invite everyone in the group as soon as you become a member, then someones likely to report you and you'll get booted.

Try this instead, If someone new joins the group and introduces themselves, they're probably looking for a friendly face. Welcome them to the group and engage them in a little conversation, read their profile. Perhaps you share other similar interests or groups. If you decide there could be future or present mutual benefit in being connected to this person then send them a connection request.

Most importantly though, engage in the spirit and discussions of your group. This should be pretty easy as you should be joining groups you share common interests in and quite often the connection requests will be inbound.

If you find yourself in a group that you cannot add value to or learn from the membership, it's possible you are just here to make money. In this case, leave the group. You will be found out soon enough. You'll also find yourself frustrated that no-one wants to connect or do business with you.

And finally;

Tip  7 - Love 3 groups.

I said earlier that Linked In is great for influence building but very few people have the time nor energy to engage in discussions within 50 active groups. So find 3 that you can build relationships in everyday.

Choose the 3 like this:

  •    A group for Peer Networking - Your learning group.
  •    A group for Influence Building - where your knowledge is sought and appreciated.
  •    A Hobby/Interest group - it'll keep you sane.

If you do nothing else but engage in the discussions in your three favourite groups once each day, it won't be long before you're building a name for yourself and people will start to seek you out.

**Bonus Tip**

While using the edit profile feature of LinkedIn, you are able to drag and drop each section of your profile in the order you want. Effectively enabling you to personalise your profile the way you want, to catch the eye of prospective clients or employers who would use your service.

Single Word Domain Names

These are getting quite hard to find. If you are looking for this type of domain name you should try to use your main keyword and be prepared to spend more on these domain names. As you can expect these names are very desirable and are therefore high in price. You can search the domain registry for these names but you will have a hard time getting them.

Domain name auctions can be tried as you might get a better deal on the name. However you will still be paying quite a bit for the name. Your main keyword can help in selecting a single word domain name. This will help you in the search engines and allow you to be indexed well. You will get more visitors to your website and ensure that they are targeted and responsive.

However you do not necessarily have to opt for a single word domain name. Other names can be just as effective and considerably less expensive. The last thing your need is to have to spend a large amount of money initially on your business. It is good to weigh the pros and cons of a single word domain name.

One of the pros of a short one word name is that it is easy for your visitors to remember and less easy for them to make typo errors. This will keep them at your site and prevent them from going to your competitors.

A one word domain means that you will be able to keep your visitors more focused on what your business stands for. They will not only remember the name but what it stands for. This will help them to remain loyal to your products instead of going to your competitors.

Another advantage is that it is easy to brand your business with a single word domain name. This will help your potential customers to be loyal to your company and buy products from you, rather than your competitors.

One of the disadvantages of a single word domain name is the expense of the domain name. Because these types of domain name are very popular many of the names are quite expensive. Looking on auction sites might help you to get a better price.

Another disadvantage or con is that you may not find it available; because these domain names are popular you may find that they are taken quickly. If you still want a single word domain then you should take a look at the alternatives that the domain register will give you, sometimes these can be quite helpful.

Now that you know the pros and cons of one word domain names you can make a decision as to whether these types of names will be right for your business. The main point to consider is the nature of your business and whether your visitor will understand what your business is about when they see your domain name. Always try to put your main keyword within your domain name to help your site to get indexed well in the search engines.

Tweaking Your Site For Better Ranking

Even a good web site will not guarantee a large traffic flow. At some point you will need to incorporate Search Engine techniques to move your listing higher in the rankings.

If you know a little about code, you can look at your site's code to begin to see if you have what is needed for higher rankings or if you need to do some work. If you don't know about coding, find a web designer or SEO specialist for help.

Your website needs to show a local phone number, even if you have a toll-free number.

You want to appear to have a location to build trust. Put your city and state, province, etc on your website. Put this on every page.

Keywords are important. Some say this is a thing of the past, but that's not what I'm seeing. Your first paragraph of each page should use very descriptive text to explain what the page holds. What information will people find on this page? Pick out specific keywords that are in your content and add them to your meta tag key words. Be specific. This is not the time to talk in generalities. Everyone sells books, but if yours are out of print books, you will stand out. Search engines key into this and once they see the keyword they look for it in the content. Never overload your content with keywords to try to get higher rankings. The Search Engines will mark your site as bad and not come back until you request a review (after you make necessary changes).

Your content is key to telling people about your business. If you are a professional, your information is vital to your reputation. Nothing kills a professional reputation faster than misspelled words in your content. It tells the visitor if they don't have time to proofread their own content, how good are they at delivering on their promises? They won't trust that you have the time for them or their order.

Remember to use your full company name in your content. The search engines will pick up on it and people will remember it longer.

Your web designer will be able to handle most if not all of these projects. If your budget can afford it, contact an SEO firm for assistance. Search Engine Optimization is a monthly cost, so be prepared for spend over $300 a month minimum for profession SEO help.

As a Web Designer I see many business' struggling to keep going. Just having a website is not enough. There are ways to improve a website and get more traffic.

How Cloud Computing Is Affecting Network Cabling

Cloud computing is gathering popularity and is becoming the networking wave of the future. Both IT professionals and network cabling technicians alike need to embrace its growth and quickly understand what it means for their business. With the need for speed and agility at an all time high, technology is struggling to keep up to make the ever in demand cloud services function easily and efficiently.

What exactly is cloud computing? Basically, it's when whatever application you are using is delivered over the network, as opposed to being processed locally. For example, creating a written document on a service over the Internet by connecting to a browser, instead of using a physically purchased product like Microsoft Word. There are a variety of cloud computing services available -- Google Apps, Skype,, QuickBooks Online, and Basecamp, just to name a few. Many small businesses are jumping on this bandwagon in a effort to save money -- word processing programs for an entire staff can get very expensive, and Google Docs and other similar online programs in the cloud are free.

With all of these readily available and easy accessible options, many companies are looking to jump into the cloud, but are worried about maintaining the security and reliable performance of their traditional on-premises deployments. Businesses are looking for greater adaptability, measured service, and room for growth. The network cabling industry is responding with discussions about the infrastructure necessary to support a successful cloud deployment.

When designing or upgrading a system for a cloud computing, network cabling companies will now have to take into account a different kind of security focus, a definite need for high transmission speeds, and a flexible structure for the future cloud technology that is already in the works. Almost all businesses that want to operate in the cloud will need to have the cabling infrastructure that allows them 40 and 100 Gbit per second speeds. Many were happy with CAT6 copper cabling for this, but the industry is quickly transitioning to CAT6a and fiber optic cabling to meet the high speed requirements. As for security, the majority of applications will be delivered over the network, and so bandwidth must be scaled to fit the requirements of the users. In addition, there must be advance planning for the skyrocketing popularity in using mobile devices on the network.

Cloud computing is fast becoming the preferred way to do business, mostly due to the agility and flexibility of it's services. The Cisco Global Cloud Index, in an effort to show the future growth of cloud-based IP and global data center traffic, forecasts that over 33% of all data center traffic will be cloud-based in the next years. And the IDC believes that the market will have jumped to a 45 billion dollar industry within the next year. It seems as though the clouds are here to stay, and by redesigning network infrastructures, the network cabling industry will be a big part of that success.

PHP Web Development - Leading Web Expansion Service

While, a major part of the web world is using PHP for the web-sites and web-applications development, there is a group of fellows who have doubt on the capabilities of hyper text pre-processor. Recently, the hot topic for discussion between the web experts is that why should we prefer PHP over other scripting languages. Here, we are providing some core facts in support of PHP and they are as follows:

Low Cost - We all know that PHP is open source in nature and do not demand any amount for installation. Thus, PHP is highly cost- effective, and most of the people prefer affordable option for web solution.

Accessibility- PHP provides fast accessibility to the web-sites, thereby instantly calling the databases from the server. The incredible speed of the PHP makes it popular among the users.

Syntax - PHP is a simple and easy scripting language and so as its architecture. The PHP coding is quite easier than other web programming languages.

Advanced - PHP is relatively much advanced than other scripting languages as it effectively supports MySQL, Linux and Apache. In addition, it is also base for various web technologies, including- CakePHP, Joomla and other open-end frameworks.

Developers Supportive - The open-source nature and easy architecture makes it developer friendly language and hence, most of the programmers love to do coding for it.

User Friendly - The web-sites developed on PHP are highly user-friendly as they provide users the flexibility to interact with them easily and comfortably.

In addition, due to wide approach and popularity of the PHP, an individual can easily find a PHP developer to expand his/her web application.

However, despite of various specialties of PHP, some people believe that the other scripting languages are better than it. There are 2 main programming languages that can be said as good competitor of PHP but, PHP rules over these for the following reasons:

PHP versus.ASP - Some fellows believe that.ASP is better than PHP but, one should know that.ASP is not a traditional scripting language and also it is limited up to Microsoft Internet Information Server Platform. On the other hand, PHP is a pure web programming language and do not has such limitations.

PHP versus Cold Fusion - Basically, these two languages can't be compared because these two have different specialties. At one hand, PHP is known for creating dynamic and complex web pages, whereas on the other hand, Cold-fusion is well-known for error free web development and instant data abstraction. However, while choosing a programming language for web development, the scripting language having better problem solving capacity is preferred and hence, PHP is regarded as the first choice.

Android Application Development Process

Every smart device there is a new application being introduced in the market. For almost all devices there is a new application being introduced now and then.

The sophisticated smart phone market is now occupied by seven leading operating system platforms. The commonly used operating systems for smart phones include the following:

  • Windows Mobile from Microsoft
  • Linux operating system (LiMo, Access Linux, others)
  • Palm OS developed by PalmSource
  • Symbian OS from Symbian Ltd.
  • iPhone OS from Apple Inc.
  • BlackBerry OS from Research In Motion (RIM)
  • Palm webOS from Palm
  • Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) from Qualcomm Inc.
  • Android from Google (Released on October 22nd, 2008)

Android application development opens up the possibility of implementing Java managed code platform. It is an independently developed Java machine known as Dalvik. Native code opens up the possibility of interfacing through JNI.

Though it is presently unsupported Google Android team is working assiduously to develop the Android Native Development Kit for officially integration of C/C++ native code with Java using JNI for a perfect solution.

Android also provides background services and also has a very well planned support system for GUI navigation. Android is more flexible than iPhone platform when it comes to developing and deploying applications without being randomly limited by the platform vendor. This latest mobile operating system is getting wide support from good players in the mobile market, along with support provided by Google.

While creating Android applications a great alternative tool can be Android App Inventor. This app inventor is a do-it-yourself tool for building applications with absolutely no programming skills needed. With this you can use drag and drop to add features to your application. This feature is not available in traditional coding methods. The app inventor can also be used to add features and to copy and paste raw code which savings time required for typing the entire code manually.

App Inventor enables android application developers for android apps development with the use of a graphical interface of buttons and menus, needing no cognizance of programming languages or command lines. It also uses the Open Blocks Java library to develop visually-represented blocks of code, so users can select and insert features from a menu.

App Inventor was begun as a project between Google and MIT to generate a modular, convenient integrated development environment to make Android applications. The duo had then declared the first open source release of App Inventor.

Google had declared to shut down its App Inventor service as part of its current service cull; nevertheless the MIT team has reestablished its plans to build the application and the service. The MIT team has created ample room for others to gain the advantage of Google's and MIT's foundation work, by open sourcing the code and letting others to avail of the App Inventor name and logo.

Fusion informatics provides []Android application development and solution from own employee of expertise in []Android application development and programming affordable cost.
