Take a look at the different sites and then select those that you are comfortable with or those that have been proven to help.

• Test widgets and buttons. Different sites have their own widgets and buttons and you have to use these in order for you to gain more. However, while using them, you also have to observe which ones help the most and which ones don't work at all. Keep the buttons and widgets that help you a lot and then drop those that don't help you at all.

• Avoid annoying your audience. Many marketers believed that it is just right for them to post coupons or advertisements on their social media accounts right away. However, this is not how it works. Before posing about any coupons or advertisements, you have to provide helpful information first. Who are you and what business or products are you promoting? How can these products help potential customers? Once your audiences are informed, it would then be the right time for you to post coupons, deals or ads.

• Remain humble. Do not consider yourself an expert mainly because you were able to generate a lot of money on your first 3 months. You can only call yourself an expert if you can generate a sustainable income by using social media to promote your business or products. Stay humble all the time. Ask for help and if someone asks for your help, do not hesitate to teach him/her.

7 Tips For Getting More Value From LinkedIn




Lately, I've noticed that there seems to be a massive amount of energy leaving Facebook and that more and more people are gravitating towards Google+ and LinkedIn.

For those that are only just finding their legs on LinkedIn, I thought I'd put together a short list of tips that I've learned from others or found myself by trial and error. Some of these will seem obvious and others you might not have had the chance to figure out yourself yet.




Tip 1 - Photo.

Adding a picture of your smiling face may not win you any photography awards but it's not meant to. The whole point is to make you seem more approachable and friendly. Your company logo, or even a professional/airbrushed image of yourself does the opposite. The people who are looking at your profile are humans with lots of hangups about how they look. If you look too perfect, they will avoid you.

Tip  2 - Monthly Editing. 

Just because you haven't changed jobs recently, doesn't mean you shouldn't review your online profile. We are never the same person as we were yesterday. You might have expanded your knowledge, your goals, or even your view of yourself. Regular editing will allow the world to see the current version of you.

Also, editing your profile gets added to your connections news feed. You never know who might be watching when you update.

Tip  3 - Recommendations and Endorsements.

LinkedIn is about building influence and networking. A well thought out recommendation for a connection is not only appreciated by it's recipient but goes a long way to building that influence. As with any personally requested written  reference, write with as much energy as you can muster and be vociferous in your recommendation.

If you cannot write a recommendation for a connection that *POPS*, either because you don't know that person well enough or you don't think highly enough of them to do them justice, don't write one. It damages your brand as well as theirs.

When possible, endorse people for their skills. It only takes a second but helps your connections build their influence. You don't need to have used them for the skill they've listed but if you know them well enough to trust that the skill they've added is one they've acquired then go ahead and add weight to their profile.

Again though, if you don't believe them likely to have that skill, don't endorse it. For example, If someone in my industry adds Superannuation to their skills, I'll endorse it because I know what the needs of my industry are. But if they add, Author as a skill, I'll want to have some proof by reading some of their material first, whether it be book, magazine article or blog posts.

Groups

Tip 4 - Splitting Groups.

While LinkedIn is a great place for building influence, it is similarly a wonderful place to find more knowledge. Whether from posted blog articles or engaged discussions, the level of educational content that is shared though Linked In is massive. A handy tip that I was given once was, to be mindful of your ego.

It's very easy to find yourself drawn into conversations in groups where you are held in high esteem for your knowledge level. To counteract this, split your group membership evenly between groups where you can learn from others and groups where you can build your influence and public profile.

As someone once said, "If you find yourself in a room where you are the smartest person there, leave". Which brings me to;

Tip  5 - Leave Groups Willingly.

The quality of your life is not decided by the things you add to it but rather the things you exclude. If the groups you're in aren't moderated properly leave. If your groups news feed is filled with random postings that don't seem to fit the group, leave.

You can only be a member of 50 groups at any one time. You may as well make the experience a meaningful one. Groups that are un-moderated tend to attract a high volume of spammers which means that the members who could add value, avoid the group like the plague.

Tip  6 - Add New People.

Groups are one of the few places where you can add new contacts without having been engaged with them previously. But be smart about your approach. If you just invite everyone in the group as soon as you become a member, then someones likely to report you and you'll get booted.

Try this instead, If someone new joins the group and introduces themselves, they're probably looking for a friendly face. Welcome them to the group and engage them in a little conversation, read their profile. Perhaps you share other similar interests or groups. If you decide there could be future or present mutual benefit in being connected to this person then send them a connection request.

Most importantly though, engage in the spirit and discussions of your group. This should be pretty easy as you should be joining groups you share common interests in and quite often the connection requests will be inbound.

If you find yourself in a group that you cannot add value to or learn from the membership, it's possible you are just here to make money. In this case, leave the group. You will be found out soon enough. You'll also find yourself frustrated that no-one wants to connect or do business with you.

And finally;

Tip  7 - Love 3 groups.

I said earlier that Linked In is great for influence building but very few people have the time nor energy to engage in discussions within 50 active groups. So find 3 that you can build relationships in everyday.

Choose the 3 like this:


  •    A group for Peer Networking - Your learning group.
  •    A group for Influence Building - where your knowledge is sought and appreciated.
  •    A Hobby/Interest group - it'll keep you sane.



If you do nothing else but engage in the discussions in your three favourite groups once each day, it won't be long before you're building a name for yourself and people will start to seek you out.

**Bonus Tip**

While using the edit profile feature of LinkedIn, you are able to drag and drop each section of your profile in the order you want. Effectively enabling you to personalise your profile the way you want, to catch the eye of prospective clients or employers who would use your service.
